On December 19, 2025, the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation hosted the "Symposium on Typical Cases of Climate Change Adaptation under the National Assessment Report on Climate Change." This event served as a crucial academic exchange activity supporting the compilation of the Fifth National Assessment Report on Climate Change. It adopted a diversified format, combining an offline main venue with online participation via Tencent Meeting and a live broadcast on Bilibili, bringing together leading experts and young scholars from research institutions, local management departments, and planning and design units.
The symposium was co-organized by the Administrative Center for China’s Agenda 21, with the project leader, Ding Ding, presiding over the meeting. Experts from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the China International Cultural Exchange Center, the Beijing Climate Change Management Center, and our own center shared their research findings on topics such as China’s progress in climate change adaptation, urban and community adaptation actions, typical practical cases of climate change adaptation, and resilient infrastructure development under the Belt and Road Initiative. Their contributions provided scientific guidance for the selection of cases and the distillation of experiences in the assessment report. During the roundtable discussion session, experts from Beijing, Shenzhen, Sichuan, and the Shaanxi Xixian New Area exchanged ideas and highlighted key areas for climate change adaptation actions from the perspective of local experts. The meeting will provide important support for the compilation of the Fifth National Assessment Report on Climate Change.
